If your photos turn out bland, no matter how hard you try, you may be missing one critical detail that could make your photos a lot better. For instance, when taking a photo of a person, never have that person looking directly at the camera. Instruct them to turn their head at a slight angle so it appears they are looking to the right or left of the lens. Also, in the frame (viewfinder) never have the person perfectly centered. Move the camera so the person is on either the left or right of the frame and looking slightly in the direction of the open space. Those two tips will greatly improve the look of your photos.
