You may find a beautiful gown but if it is isn’t the right size then you will probably have to keep looking unless it can be altered. Many consignment shops wont have anyone available for alterations so try and find a good seamstress before you start shopping and have one less thing to worry about.

Another challenge with consignment shopping is that you need to act quickly. You may find the gown of your dreams only to come back the next day to find it has been bought by another bride. Bring your mother, sister or friend shopping if you want a second opinion. Understand that the minute the gown leaves your hands, it is gone. Another bride can come in and buy it right out from under you. In a bridal store, they can always order another copy of the dress. This is not so in a consignment store.

But shopping at eBay or at a consignment store can have huge benefits. Your dress can be less than 50% of what you would pay otherwise.
