Digital Photography : Why Choose Digital Photography?

Perhaps it has become unthinkable not to have a digital photo camera. But there are still people who still have not decided whether they want to keep using their analog device or invest in one of those new digital compact cameras of which some look like gadgets.

Fact is that the older analog cameras require more skills than the new more versatile devices. The digital photo cameras are more and more equipped with electronics and software by the manufacturers to overcome unprofessional use.

It is easier to talk about the advantages of digital photography than the disadvantages:

Cheaper

The cost is lower, because you don’t need photo film anymore. Exposed film must be processed in a photo lab. Films are expensive and are limited to only 36 images maximum. After that the photos must be printed on photo paper. On digital photo cameras a memory card is used to store the photos, but you only have to buy it once. The new generation SD memory cards enable you to take hundreds of digital photos and they can be reused many times. If a memory card gets full, you can transfer the photos onto the hard drive of your PC or an external hard drive.

Easy

In automatic mode the new digital photo cameras only require pointing and pressing the release button to take good photos. Built-in Autofocus, auto exposure and an automatic flash are very common in modern digital photo cameras. The majority of the digital photo cameras have a LCD screen on the back that can be used to view the photos or to change the camera settings.

Faster

The photos can almost immediately be watched on the LCD screen, once you’ve finished taking them. With the push of a button, blurry looking photos can be removed. The memory card can be taken out and put in a photo kiosk to print the photos. The photos can be uploaded to your computer’s hard drive in minutes.

Flexible

Once the photos are stored on your computer, they can be edited if necessary. Photo editing software enables you to correct bad lighting and colours.

Once the photos have been improved and you are satisfied with the result, you can choose to burn them onto a CD and even watch them on a TV. You can take them to the photo lab to have them printed on quality photo paper.
